Charlotte Builders and Lowe's Team Up to Provide Tiny Homes for Hurricane Helene Victims This Holiday Season

Charlotte Joins Forces to Brighten the Holidays for Hurricane Helene Victims

CHARLOTTE — This holiday season is about to get a whole lot brighter for families impacted by Hurricane Helene. Local builders have teamed up with Lowe’s to deliver a heartwarming initiative that will provide much-needed shelter to those who lost their homes in the devastating storm.

As if that weren’t enough to spread the cheer, more than a dozen tiny homes are set to make their way to western North Carolina! Thanks to the hard work of these volunteers, the homes are scheduled to arrive just in time for Christmas. Lowe’s Home Improvement has pledged an impressive $12 million to support relief efforts in the area, and this project is just one of many ways they are stepping up to help.

Ready, Set, Build!

Volunteers from various organizations, including the Home Builders Association of Greater Charlotte, Habitat for Humanity, and Advance Roofing and Exteriors, have been busting their tails over the past week to put the finishing touches on these charming little homes. Utilizing a warehouse space off of Old Dowd, these dedicated individuals have worked tirelessly to ensure the homes are not just functional but also cozy and welcoming.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty had the chance to witness the hard work and determination from these amazing volunteers firsthand. Their devotion to giving back and helping families rebuild what they lost has been nothing short of inspiring. It’s a beautiful reminder that community spirit and kindness can go a long way, especially during tough times.

Bringing Homes to Those in Need

The homes, designed with comfort in mind, are headed to families in Avery and Buncombe counties, courtesy of a collaboration with Beloved Asheville and Appalachia Service Project. The delivery will be handled by NASCAR haulers, which should roll into the Asheville area later this afternoon, bringing joyful tidings for the families eagerly awaiting their new homes. Channel 9 is set to be on-site to capture those emotional moments when the families finally receive their homes.

What’s even more remarkable is that Lowe’s has set a lofty goal of donating a total of 100 tiny homes to the western North Carolina region. To make their aim even sweeter, they plan to deliver two-thirds of these homes by Christmas, ensuring that those in need will have a place to call home during the festive season.

Why It Matters

The recovery from Hurricane Helene has been a long journey for many. Families have faced significant challenges and losses, and having a roof over their heads once again is a crucial step toward rebuilding their lives. Holiday time can often be a trigger for feelings of loss and sorrow, which is why this initiative carries even more weight. It serves as a reminder that hope and love can shine through even the darkest of times.

As the houses make their way to their new owners, the joy they bring is palpable. Each tiny home stands as a testament to resilience, community support, and just how far we can go when we come together to help those who need it most.

A Season of Giving

This incredible initiative led by Lowe’s and local builders offers a helpful and heartfelt solution to those struggling to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. With the holiday spirit in full swing, the delivery of these homes is bound to be one of the most touching moments of the season for countless families.

So, keep an eye out as Channel 9 shares these wonderful stories of families as they receive their new homes later today at 5 p.m. The ripple effect of compassion and generosity is sure to warm hearts across the region.
