CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Crews have been working tirelessly on a burst water pipe in the Cotswold neighborhood of southeast Charlotte for more than 12 hours. The issue, initially reported by Charlotte Water around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, was expected to take two to four hours to repair. However, as of Monday morning, repairs were still ongoing, with water continuing to bubble out of the damaged pipe.

Repair Challenges

Charlotte Water cited “unforeseen challenges underground” that have extended the repair process beyond the initial estimate. The burst water pipe is located along North Sharon Amity Road near Randolph Road. To assist residents affected by the water outage, bottled water is available at the intersection of North Sharon Amity Road and Night Heron Lane.

Efforts on the Ground

A trackhoe and multiple Charlotte Water utility trucks have been deployed to the scene to address the burst pipe. Westbound lanes leading toward Randolph Road have been blocked off to ensure the safety of crews as they work on the repairs. Real-time traffic updates can be accessed on the WBTV News app.
