CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are working diligently to identify a man who robbed a business in east Charlotte on Saturday, March 30, around 4:45 p.m. The incident took place at Panaderia La Miguelena along N. Sharon Amity Road.
Surveillance Footage Reveals Details of the Robbery
Surveillance footage from the business captured the suspect entering the shop and ordering ice cream. The footage shows the suspect waiting as the clerk scoops the ice cream into a cone. Detective Jacquelyn Clyburn from the CMPD Crime Stoppers stated that the suspect initiated the robbery as soon as the clerk opened the cash register.
“When the register is opened, he brandishes a knife,” Clyburn explained. A worker at the business reported to officers that the suspect had a knife in his waistband. The suspect then proceeded to take cash from the register, motioned for the clerk to remain silent, and exited the premises.

According to Detective Clyburn, there has been a rise in robberies targeting Latino members of the community in areas near North Sharon Amity Road and Central Avenue. She advised residents and workers in the area to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
“Be aware of your surroundings and if you can have someone with you when you’re working,” Clyburn emphasized.
