Wonderful Start to Workweek in Charlotte
The humidity – and the heat – return by the end of the week
The heat has turned up a notch on this Sunday afternoon, but the Queen City yet again failed to reach 90°. Of course, there will be plenty more opportunities to do so over the months ahead, but another cooldown arrives behind Sunday’s cold front to kick off the workweek.
Scattered storms will roll through the WCCB Charlotte viewing area this Sunday evening as the system approaches from the northwest. A few cells may be severe, packing wind gusts over 50 mph and hail up to ping pong ball size. Most of our area will be done with the rain by midnight, but clouds will stick around through the overnight hours. Lows will dip into the 50s and 60s as we wake up on Monday.
The first three days of the workweek look fantastic as sunny skies and low humidity levels take hold of the Carolinas. The latter portions of the week ahead are trending drier, but we’ll still want to watch carefully for any moisture heading our way from the Gulf of Mexico. Assuming significant rain chances don’t materialize, some of the hottest air we’ve seen all year arrives by next weekend as a heat dome settles over the Eastern US.
