Charlotte Prepares for Major Election

Good morning, Charlotte! As you sip your coffee this Monday, I’ve got some important news you might want to pay attention to. As the city gears up for a bustling election season, it’s essential to dive deep into exactly what’s on your ballot and who the candidates are. Yes, the spotlight is on big names like Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, but let’s not forget about the dozens of state and local candidates whose decisions could impact your daily life.

The Charlotte Ledger has been working hard to make sure you’re not left in the dark when it comes to these *down-ballot* races. We all know voting is vital, but learning about all those unfamiliar names isn’t always straightforward. Many of us can name the presidential candidates in our sleep, but how about those running for seats in the state legislature, county commissions, or even that intriguing position of soil and water conservation district supervisor?

Introducing the Charlotte Ledger Election Hub

We’re excited to announce that our new Charlotte Ledger Election Hub is launching this Thursday just in time for early voting! This is your go-to resource for everything related to the upcoming general election, designed to make your voting experience as smooth as possible.

Don’t just take our word for it; we’ve assembled information on about 200 candidates across five Charlotte area counties: Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, and Iredell. You will also find insights into approximately 300 additional candidates in other counties, all aimed at empowering you as a voter.

Feeling unsure about who to vote for when it comes to local races? Our Election Hub includes short biographies, candidate photos, and district maps presented in a neat, easy-to-read format. Remember, we’re not here to tell you who to pick; our mission is to give you the facts needed to make an informed decision when you step into the voting booth.

Keeping It Convenient and Free

Maybe you’re hesitating to visit because you fear it’ll cost you. Well, we have great news—our Election Hub is completely free to access, without any annoying paywalls or ads. We believe this type of civic information is too important to keep behind a paywall. You deserve unbiased and easy-to-find data about political candidates to ensure a meaningful vote.

This initiative was no small feat; it took months of hard work, and we owe a huge thank you to our election coverage team and dedicated interns, who poured in their time and effort to bring this together. From research and writing to web design, it’s all been thoughtfully curated for you.
