Charlotte’s Job Scene Boosted by RXO Expansion!
Exciting news for Charlotte! The city is gearing up for a major economic boost as RXO Corporate Solutions, one of North America’s biggest transportation broker companies, has announced an impressive $14 million investment. This move is set to create over 200 new jobs in the dynamic fields of transportation, logistics, and technology.
A Growing Workforce
During the recent meeting of the NC Economic Investment Committee, state officials shared the thrilling details of RXO’s plans. The company isn’t just looking to expand; they’re aiming to bring in a wealth of talent for roles such as transportation brokers, operational and logistics specialists, technology and data analysts, sales and account managers, and administrative staff. In total, RXO aims to add 216 jobs starting in 2026, with salaries beginning at around $89,769—a figure that surpasses the average wage for Mecklenburg County, which sits at about $84,797.
A Milestone for Charlotte
As Charlotte’s Mayor Vi Lyles aptly noted, “This is not just an expansion; it’s a significant milestone for our city’s growth and economic development.” It’s clear that RXO’s investment is a big deal for local families and the economy, signaling new opportunities and job stability.
In exchange for their investment, RXO will receive state assistance amounting to over $1.6 million in tax incentives over the next 12 years. Additionally, they will secure an extra $400,000 combined contribution from the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. This support includes approximately $390,000 from the community college system dedicated to training and another $436,000 aimed at workforce solutions.

RXO’s CEO Drew Wilkerson emphasizes the city’s advantages, citing its location, a bustling international airport, a skilled labor pool, and a favorable business climate as ideal for RXO’s expansion journey. The company is already well-established, boasting about 200 facilities across North America and Asia with a workforce of approximately 8,400 employees. Charlotte currently hosts nearly 650 workers at RXO’s corporate office located in the charming Ballantyne area.
Adding to the excitement, RXO recently made headlines when they acquired Coyote Logistics from UPS in a stunning deal worth $1 billion. This acquisition stretches their reach and capabilities even further, enhancing their role in shipping retail, e-commerce, and manufacturing goods.
