In 1998, Ana Silva Rey moved to North Carolina with plans to return to Mexico after graduating from UNC Charlotte. However, her path took a different turn, leading her to become a key figure in supporting Latino students in the Charlotte region. With experience in management consulting and real estate, Rey joined the board of Latin Americans Working for Achievement in 2012, where she later served as the executive director. Under her leadership, the nonprofit saw significant growth in scholarships and educational programs for Latino students.
As the CEO of Charlotte Bilingual Preschool, Rey focuses on preparing Spanish-speaking students and their parents for success in the U.S. education system. With a personal mission to uplift individuals and communities through education, Rey’s work aligns with the growing Latino population in Charlotte. With over 270,000 Latinos in the region and a significant representation in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, Rey’s efforts aim to improve academic outcomes and opportunities for Latino students.
