Red Cross and Ben & Jerry’s Unite for their Annual ‘Give a Pint, Get a Pint’ Blood Drive

CHARLOTTE, N.C.

Charlotte’s altruistic citizens have the opportunity to satisfy their craving for Ben & Jerry’s delicious ice-cream while also helping to save lives. The American Red Cross North Carolina region, in collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream company, is hosting its 13th Annual ‘Give a Pint, Get a Pint’ blood drive, scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week.

Encouraging Blood Donation

The collaborative effort aims to replenish vital blood supplies in hospitals. To support this noble cause and book their slots, donors can sign-up at RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code “BenandJerry,” call the Red Cross hotline at 1-800-RED CROSS, or use the Red Cross Blood Donor app.

Where to Participate

A number of locations are participating in the ‘Give a Pint, Get a Pint’ drive including Bank of America, Ben & Jerry’s Charlotte, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream in Davidson, Hilton Garden Inn, Novant Health Presbyterian, and Life Time Charlotte.

Rewards for Donors

All participating blood donors will receive a coupon redeemable for a pint of ice cream at local Ben & Jerry’s storefronts, and a free Red Cross donor t-shirt. In an exciting collaboration with Universal Pictures and the release of their latest film “TWISTERS,” the Red Cross is offering a Fandango Movie Ticket via email to all blood or platelet donors from July 1-31.

Additionally, donors from July 1-14 also have the chance to take home a unique “TWISTERS” and Red Cross branded umbrella. July donors are automatically entered into a draw with a chance to win a 2025 Ram 1500 Big Horn- a truly spectacular reward for their blood donation.

Importance of Blood Donation

A local doctor emphasized the critical nature of blood donations- “It might be what saves them.” This drive arrives at a critical time when health infrastructure is under pressure due to the ongoing pandemic, making the donors’ contributions more valuable than ever.

Conclusion

The community is encouraged to support the ‘Give a Pint, Get a Pint’ initiative as a small act of kindness with potentially major implications, presenting an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of society while enjoying a pint of refreshing ice cream. We applaud both the Red Cross and Ben & Jerry’s for their continuous efforts in driving such significant community initiatives.
