Two Young Men Sought After Early Morning Arcade Robbery in Charlotte

Charlotte, N.C. – In the wee hours of Saturday, September 28, a gambling arcade in east Charlotte, known as the Lucky Duck, found itself at the center of a dramatic robbery that has left the community on edge. The incident unfolded just after 2 a.m. at the arcade located off East W.T. Harris Boulevard, not too far from Hickory Grove Road.

A Disturbing Scene Unfolds

As the night unfolded, surveillance footage from the Lucky Duck arcade revealed the unsettling moments leading up to the robbery. Two young men entered the business and lingered for a short while, seemingly checking out the scene before making a sudden move into the business’s office.

The footage shows a chaotic struggle as the suspects tussled with the arcade’s employees. In a brave moment of defiance, one woman was seen throwing water on one of the intruders while a male employee engaged with the other suspect. The tension was palpable as the situation turned dangerous, with both suspects escaping with cash from the office.

Gun Threat Makes It Even Scarier

As if the robbery wasn’t alarming enough, the video captured one of the robbers brandishing a gun as he fled on foot. Detective Jacqueline Clyburn from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) emphasized how critical it is to understand the unpredictability of such crimes. “These crimes are always unpredictable, like I say, things can change in a moment,” she stated.

Youthful Offenders

Detective Clyburn also pointed out several details that can help identify the young criminals. “They’re young – the height, the hair, mannerisms; movement is always important,” she elaborated, highlighting how these elements could aid in their capture. Even if they were aware of the surveillance cameras, it seemed like they didn’t take it seriously. In fact, Clyburn remarked, “If they did, it didn’t seem like they cared.”

The Community’s Role

As the investigation continues, the CMPD is urging anyone with information about the robbery to step forward. They can do so by contacting Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. This is an important call to action for the community, as tipsters can remain anonymous and may even receive a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.

Additionally, tips can also be submitted through the convenient P3 Tips app, making it easier for community members to assist in keeping their neighborhood safe.

Community Vigilance Appreciated

The incident has highlighted the importance of community vigilance in tackling crime. With places such as Lucky Duck providing entertainment and enjoyment for many, the fact that it became the target of a robbery is concerning for all who frequent the area. People in Charlotte are known for their close-knit community spirit, and now more than ever, it’s crucial that residents keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

As we hope for a swift resolution to this unsettling incident, it’s essential for everyone to remember that safety in our communities often relies on the cooperation and attentiveness of its members. Have you seen anything unusual around arcade establishments recently? Your insight could make a difference!

Stay safe, Charlotte!
