Unveiling the story behind Avalanche Coffee
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) – Once upon a time, a former marketing expert and nurse and a wounded veteran and avalanche survivor opened a coffee truck in Charlotte. QC Life’s Kristen Miranda joined Mallory and Benjamin Breckheimer, the co-owners of Avalanche Coffee at their coffee truck to learn more about their unusual story and try their delicious coffee creations.
The Journey of Avalanche Coffee
The Breckheimers are operating a mobile coffee truck in the Charlotte area. “We originally wanted beer but figured the next best thing is caffeine,” Benjamin Breckheimer said. Avalanche Coffee is a full espresso bar and café featuring locally roasted beans from Pure Intentions Coffee.
The name alludes to Benjamin’s first attempt to climb Mt Everest, during which he experienced an earthquake and avalanche on the mountain. Luckily, the Combat Wounded Veteran and prolific climber and mountaineer survived. He later returned to Mt. Everest, summited it along with the famed Seven Summits and thereby became the first Purple Heart recipient while also setting a world record.
After changing careers twice, Mallory Breckheimer and her husband decided to open a coffee truck where they serve seasonal menus at various locations, including the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market as well as in Southend. In addition to their current mobile location, they are planning on opening a coffee shop in the Huntersville area soon.
The Popular Creations
Benjamin made their best seller, the ‘Lavender Honey Latte’, an Iced Latte with Irish Cream Cold Foam and Chocolate Drizzle for our Kristen Miranda.
