Fayetteville has some news buzzing in the radio world! Beasley Media Group recently announced a brand new leadership structure that introduces the position of Regional Vice Presidents across the company—a move aimed at enhancing how they oversee their markets throughout the country. This initiative is all about making operations smoother and boosting revenue while continuing to deliver great content to listeners.
As part of this exciting change, Cluster and Market Managers will now report directly to their respective Regional Vice Presidents. This streamlined approach should help improve collaboration and efficiency in various markets, giving the teams the tools they need to thrive.
One key figure stepping into this new role is Mac Edwards, who is returning to Fayetteville as the Regional Vice President for both the Charlotte and Fayetteville markets. With a whopping 25 years of experience at Beasley Media Group, Mac is a familiar face in the Fayetteville area. He got his start back in 1991 as the programmer for the beloved Country station, 95.7 WKML-FM, before making his way up the ranks to General Manager of WFLB-FM and WAZZ-AM.
His impressive career journey includes positions such as VP/Operations for all Beasley Fayetteville stations and then a big move to manage stations in Detroit, Michigan. In 2022, Mac was back in Charlotte, overseeing six radio stations, including the popular Kiss 95.1 FM.
For Mac, returning to the Fayetteville area is more than just a job. He grew up nearby in Belmont and shared how it feels special to oversee stations that hold a cherished place in his heart. “When I was offered the opportunity to run stations that I had actually listened to growing up, including WSOC FM, the legendary country station in Charlotte, I couldn’t turn that down,” he said with evident excitement.
Although he will maintain his position as market manager for Charlotte, Mac’s role will now include trips back to Fayetteville, which he is genuinely looking forward to. “I’ll be getting re-acclimated to the stations and our big brands here, like Foxy-99 and WKML,” he expressed.
Since beginning his new role in August, Mac has been eager to hit the ground running. “I want everyone to know that Mac is still Mac. I had wonderful business and personal acquaintances in this market. I’m looking forward to re-establishing some of those relationships on a more regular basis,” he shared.
His commitment to the Fayetteville community runs deep. During his previous tenure, he actively participated in various local committees, such as the Chamber’s Small Business Council and chaired the board of the United Way. He has served on boards for the Salvation Army and the Methodist University Foundation, further illustrating his dedication to making a positive impact.
The introduction of the Regional Vice Presidents is certainly a change worth noting in the Fayetteville radio scene. With Mac Edwards at the helm, you can bet there are exciting things on the horizon for both the Charlotte and Fayetteville markets. Rest assured, as he continues to strengthen relations within the community, listeners and businesses will reap the benefits of this new leadership structure.
