Hey there, Charlotte! The holiday season is officially upon us, and if you’re looking to soak in the festive cheer, you’re in for a treat. This year, the annual Best Holiday Display contest has brought to light some of the most dazzling decorations and delightful displays our neighborhoods have to offer. With more than 30 nominations, the community has spoken, and it’s time to find out who’s taking home the title of *best holiday display* for 2024!
Drumroll, please! The winner is none other than the Wall family’s incredible display in the Waterford on the Rocky River neighborhood! This festive family, who recently made their move from Iowa, has been turning their home into a winter wonderland for over a decade. Darin Wall, the enthusiastic mastermind behind the magic, shared that this year’s decor comes with a special touch—a heartfelt tribute to his late mother-in-law, Linda.
“This is kind of Linda’s memorial Christmas special celebration, so we’d love to share it with people,” Darin explained, beaming with pride as he recounted the joyous scenes of families stopping to take photos in front of his home. “I get super excited when I see cars line the street! If they stop long enough, I’ll come out and see if the kids wanna get out and let them walk through the display.”
That’s right, Charlotte! You might just meet Darin as you stroll through the magical lights, and he encourages all to come by, snap some pics, and feel the spirit of the season! Not only do the Walls win bragging rights for their stunning display, but they also receive a fantastic prize pack from Charlotte Motor Speedway, which includes a free express pass to the fabulous Speedway Christmas and a $100 gift card for a meal at the Speedway Club. Talk about a festive double whammy!
And let’s not forget about the lovely folks in Brightmoor/Matthews. This year’s runner-up in the contest was the Rumble family, known for their glorious holiday decorations that have become a cherished neighborhood tradition. Mom, Laurie Rumble, started decorating years ago when her boys were little, and now it’s a must-see for families in the area. Picture this: kids giggling in delight as they explore the decorations, making it an experience nobody wants to miss!
Laurie and her family included a new *Frozen*-themed display this year, dedicated to her granddaughter, Emma. Families eagerly flock to this enchanting spot, and it’s easy to see why it holds a favorite place in the hearts of locals.
If you’re still hunting for holiday cheer, don’t miss checking out the festive lights around the area. Swing by the previously featured holiday lights displays from past years, filled with joy and holiday spirit just waiting for you! After all, every corner of Charlotte has its own unique contribution to this season’s celebration.
This holiday season, Charlotte is dazzling with lights, love, and unbeatable community spirit.
