Charlotte, N.C. — One of our favorite legendary singer-songwriters, Bonnie Raitt, has some exciting news! Mark your calendars for November 20, 2024, because Raitt is set to perform a special benefit concert at the lovely Ovens Auditorium. The purpose? To raise funds for communities still grappling with the impact of the recent Hurricane Helene. If you’re a fan of great music and a heartwarming cause, you won’t want to miss this event!
All net proceeds from this benefit concert will go directly to nonprofit organizations that are actively involved in hurricane recovery efforts. Among the beneficiaries is the Emergency and Disaster Response Fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. This foundation has been a vital resource, covering 18 counties in our region, and distributing grants to nonprofits that are working tirelessly on the front lines of disaster relief. Here’s a refreshing detail: Every single dollar raised will go straight to aiding those affected since all administrative fees for the foundation’s work will be waived. How great is that?
Joining Raitt for this special night will be the talented British R&B musician, James Hunter. Hunter expressed his enthusiasm for the concert, saying, “We’re very much looking forward to kicking off the night for the great Bonnie Raitt, so bring your dancing shoes, and we’ll get you warmed up for a memorable evening of live music!” Sounds like a perfect night to enjoy some soulful tunes while supporting an amazing cause!
For those eager to attend, tickets for the benefit concert will kick off with a presale starting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. local time. General public sales will follow on Friday, October 25, at 10 a.m. Make sure you grab your tickets through Raitt’s official website before they sell out!
In a heartfelt statement, Raitt shared her deep concern for those still enduring the aftermath of the storm. “Our hearts break for the devastated communities whose immeasurable pain and hardship continues,” she said. It’s clear this concert means a lot to her and she’s committed to helping those in need.
It’s also worth noting that Raitt’s previously scheduled performance on the same date at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium has been rescheduled to April 23, 2025. But don’t worry if you bought tickets for that show—they’ll still be valid for the new date! If you’re unable to make it, refunds will be available until January 31, 2025.
This benefit concert is part of Raitt’s Fall 2024 headlining tour that includes stops in vibrant cities like Houston and New Orleans, as well as several other spots across the Southeast. It’s a busy time for Raitt, who was recently honored with three GRAMMY Awards earlier this year and will be celebrated at the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in December.
So, get ready, Charlotte! Let’s rally together to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene while enjoying an incredible night of music from a true legend.
