Charlotte is about to get a burger boost! A new burger franchise called Smalls Sliders, which has ties to NFL Hall of Famer Drew Brees, is gearing up for its debut in North Carolina next year. The excitement is palpable as Smalls plans to open a whopping 12 locations in the Charlotte area over the next six years. This means more cheeseburger options and mouth-watering sliders for locals to enjoy.

So, what makes Smalls Sliders so special? This burger chain is known for its unique and simple menu that focuses on made-to-order cheeseburger sliders. While you might think everyone’s doing burgers these days, Smalls has its special twist. Picture this: sliders that come straight from orange-and-black shipping containers, or “cans,” that boast a drive-thru and a walk-up window for those who can’t resist the urge for a tasty burger.
What’s on the Menu?
One of the highlights of Smalls is the menu, which offers a variety of combos featuring one to four beef patty sliders. You can also grab some waffle potato fries and a drink to make the meal complete. That’s not all! For those who crave a heartier bite, there’s a double meat-and-cheese slider option, plus bacon for those days when you feel like indulging. Not in the mood for a burger? No worries! You’ll also find grilled cheese, fries smothered in Smalls’ special sauce and queso, and three delightful milkshake flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream. And if you’re planning a party, there are even party packs of 25 sliders!
The Expansion Plan
Founded in 2019 in Louisiana, Smalls Sliders is currently on the fast track to expansion. With its headquarters in Atlanta, the company aims to sprout up to over 300 locations nationwide. North Carolina is a key player in this plan, with the first Charlotte-area Smalls expected to open in late 2025. Potential sites include popular areas such as Charlotte, Matthews, Pineville, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Monroe, Gastonia, Concord, Hickory, Salisbury, and even Rock Hill!
More Burger Options Coming!
But that’s not the only burger news in the area! Other burger chains are also making their mark in Charlotte. For instance, Cook Out, that famous “never frozen” burger chain, is planning to open at least three more stores around Charlotte. Meanwhile, The Habit Burger Grill is adding 15 new spots in the region, offering their renowned char-grilled burgers.
Our local burger scene isn’t stopping there! Harriet’s Hamburgers has opened a new location at The Bowl at Ballantyne and has plans for more stores in Concord and Matthews. Plus, Whataburger is not one to be left behind either, with three new stores in the works in Charlotte.
