This project was officially purchased by Cape Landing Apartments LLC for $450,000 on December 16, 2022, and has garnered unanimous support from the Wilmington City Council for its rezoning plans as of March 5, 2024. The zoning transitioned from R-5, a Medium-Density Mixed Residential District, to MD-10(CD), categorizing it as a Medium-Density Multiple-Dwelling Residential District Conditional District.

The ambitious plans include the construction of 11 residential buildings, which will accommodate a mix of four, five, and six-unit townhome structures designed specifically for seniors. Each building will stand at just one story, reaching an approximate height of 22 feet. The overall design aims to create a welcoming environment with a total of 60 single-family attached residential units dedicated to affordable senior housing. Among these units, residents will be able to choose from one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, totaling 111 available bedrooms in the development.
