Charlotte, N.C. – CATS, the Charlotte Area Transit System, is giving the community the opportunity to meet local artists Nico Amortegui and Bree Stallings, who will be incorporating art glass into new bus shelters. Attendants at the meeting will be able to see the initial design concepts and give feedback to the artists and CATS staff before the design is finalized.
The community meeting will take place on May 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Visual and Performing Arts Center located at 700 N. Tryon St. This is a great opportunity for residents to have a say in the artistic design of the city’s bus shelters.
Nico Amortegui and Bree Stallings are well-known artists in the Charlotte area, each bringing their unique style and perspective to the project. Amortegui’s vibrant and dynamic art will surely add a pop of color and energy to the bus shelters, while Stallings’ intricate and meaningful designs are expected to resonate with the community.
Community feedback is crucial in projects like these, as it ensures that the final design reflects the values and desires of the residents who will use the bus shelters daily. CATS is committed to creating public spaces that not only serve a functional purpose but also contribute to the artistic and cultural landscape of Charlotte.
By involving local artists and the community in the design process, CATS is fostering collaboration and engagement within the city. This initiative highlights the importance of art in public spaces and the positive impact it can have on the community.
If you are interested in participating in the community meeting and providing feedback on the bus shelter designs, make sure to mark your calendar for May 30. This is your chance to be a part of shaping the visual identity of Charlotte’s public transportation system.
