Charlotte Area Transit System Announces Public Meetings for June Service Changes

Charlotte, N.C. – April 16, 2024

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has revealed plans for upcoming service changes set to take effect in June 2024. These changes will impact Uptown service along several key routes, necessitating public feedback to ensure smooth implementation.

Routes Affected:

The following routes will see adjustments in service:

• Routes 11 and 21
• Routes 40x, 46x, 52x, 64x, and 74x
• Routes 61x and 62x

Specific Changes:

For Routes 11 and 21, outbound service leaving Uptown will now travel along College Street before reconnecting to College Street. Service along N. Tryon Street between 4th Street and Montford Point Street will be discontinued.

Routes 40x, 46x, 52x, 64x, and 74x will see inbound service to Uptown utilizing 4th Street to connect to Johnson & Wales. Service along Church Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue, and Graham Street will be discontinued. Outbound service from Uptown will use 3rd Street to connect to College Street, with service along Graham Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue, and College Street (between Brooklyn Village Avenue and 3rd Street) being discontinued.

For Routes 61x and 62x, inbound service to Uptown will also connect via 4th Street to Johnson & Wales. Similar to the other routes mentioned, service along Church Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue, and Graham Street will be discontinued.

Community Feedback Meetings:

CATS will be hosting community meetings to gather feedback from riders impacted by these changes. The following meetings are scheduled:

Virtual Meetings via CATS YouTube:

• Wednesday, April 17 at noon
• Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m.

In-Person Meetings:

• Tuesday, April 23 from noon-1:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC) in front of the Pass Sales and Information booth – 300 W. Trade St. Charlotte, NC 28202
• Tuesday, April 23 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the CTC
• Thursday, April 25 from 4-6 p.m. at the College and 3rd Street bus stop (in front of the Wells Fargo/Hilton Hotel Plaza) – Weather permitting
