On September 14, culinary historian Michael Twitty will demonstrate cooking techniques and dish out samples from the recently reconstructed kitchen at the historic 1774 Rock House.

A Celebration of Heritage and History

This year is special for the 1774 Alexander Rock House as it marks a remarkable 250 years since its establishment! Join us on October 19 for a birthday celebration highlighting the life of its first resident, Hezekiah Alexander, while exploring the broader narratives of those whose lives intertwined with his. The museum aims to touch on a wider history by addressing the experiences of his family as well as the local Catawba community.

As we look ahead, the museum is also gearing up for the African American Heritage Festival, titled Black Country, on February 20-22, 2025.
