Start-Scale-Sustain Grant for Charlotte’s Business Districts

The city of Charlotte has recently announced a new grant program aimed at supporting Business District Organizations (BDOs) within the Corridors of Opportunity. The Start-Scale-Sustain (S3) grant is a promising opportunity for nonprofit organizations dedicated to enhancing business districts in Charlotte.

Grant Criteria and Application Process

Organizations interested in applying for the S3 grant must meet specific criteria. They must be a nonprofit with an existing or pending 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 designation, serve a business district in the Corridors of Opportunity, represent at least 10 businesses from the district they serve, and have an active SAM.gov Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) or a fiduciary/fiscal sponsor with a UEI.

Applications for the grant are currently being accepted until June 14 at 5 p.m. To provide further insight into the grant program, city staff will conduct a question-and-answer webinar on Thursday, May 16, at 11 a.m. Interested participants must register for the webinar to receive a virtual meeting link and are encouraged to submit any questions prior to the event by emailing corridorsofopportunity@charlottenc.gov.

For detailed information regarding the grant program and application guidelines, interested parties can visit the S3 grant webpage.

The implementation of the Start-Scale-Sustain grant underscores the city’s commitment to fostering economic development and sustainability within Charlotte’s business districts. By providing financial support to BDOs, the city aims to empower these organizations to create positive change and growth within their respective communities.
