Hello, Charlotte! As we dive into November, it looks like the first weekend is shaping up to be delightful. But let’s not get too cozy just yet because a wave of cooler and cloudier weather is on the way as we head into the first full workweek of the month.
A strong ridge of high pressure lingering to our north is playing a crucial role in bringing cooler air from the northeast down into the Carolinas. By Sunday evening, we should expect a classic winter wedge to settle in. While we may enjoy some sunshine for part of the weekend, the thermometer will show a drop in temperatures.
On Sunday, areas around the Piedmont and Foothills will experience highs barely reaching the upper 60s. However, don’t worry! If you’re down south or east of the Queen City, you might just peek over the 70º mark to give your weekend a warm farewell.
As we kick off the workweek on Monday, expect the wedge to dig in deeper. Highs will struggle to break out of the 50s, especially for those along I-85 and points northwest. And that’s not all! A hint of drizzle might just roll into the area Monday evening as moisture streams in from the Atlantic.
Now, let’s talk about Tuesday, because it’s Election Day! The winds will shift to a more southeasterly direction, and with it, temperatures are expected to rise into the 70s across the Metro area. While we’ll still see scattered light rain and clouds, it looks like it’s shaping up to be a pleasant day to head to the polls.
In more exciting news, a new tropical storm has made its debut in the Atlantic—tropical storm Patty! This system is moving east and is set to bring some winds and rain to parts of Europe. But rest assured, this fledgling storm will remain much too far from the U.S. to cause us any alarm. However, there’s another system brewing in the Caribbean that we’ll want to keep an eye on, with models suggesting it could make its way to the Gulf of Mexico by next weekend. The next name on this year’s storm list? Rafael!
So, what can you expect as we wrap up the weekend? Here’s a quick breakdown:
As we embrace the changing weather patterns, make sure to layer up and stay prepared for those cooler days ahead! Stay tuned for further updates and enjoy your weekend in beautiful Charlotte!
