According to Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich, that fog wasn’t just a local issue. Throughout the night, fog enveloped much of the Charlotte area, reducing visibility to a mere half-mile. It’s interesting—and somewhat concerning—to think about how weather can change so quickly.

As for the passengers on flight 5943, American Airlines didn’t leave them hanging. They were swiftly provided transportation from Greensboro to Roanoke. Under regular conditions, that drive would take approximately two hours, so they were back on track in no time!
