The survey, conducted by GasBuddy, revealed the average price currently stands at $3.22 per gallon. That is up 26.8 cents from a month ago, and 10 cents more than it was a week ago. The Charlotte-area average is slightly higher than the state average, which is $3.20 per gallon. Across the United States, the average price is $3.40.
“The national average price of gasoline has seen a continued but measured rise compared to last week, but the pace of increases has slowed slightly in the last few days,” said Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy. “Much of the seasonal rise that happens this time of year is a culmination of refinery maintenance, the switch to summer gasoline, and rising demand.”
GasBuddy data shows the average price of diesel fuel has dropped slightly over the past week at $4.02 per gallon. Drivers can find the cheapest prices in their area by clicking here.
