Hey Charlotte! The countdown is on for one of the most exciting events of the year! Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is making its grand return to our vibrant city from November 18 to 21. This isn’t just a local affair—it’s part of a worldwide celebration happening from November 18 to 24, featuring an impressive lineup of activities specially designed for entrepreneurs from all walks of life!
So, what’s the buzz all about? Innovate Charlotte, the city of Charlotte itself, along with NC IDEA and Pitch Breakfast, are teaming up to bring you a fantastic week full of opportunities. They are collaborating with a bunch of local nonprofits, educational institutions, tech organizations, and ecosystem leaders to create a rich tapestry of speakers, workshops, and networking events. It’s the perfect chance for everyone from budding entrepreneurs to seasoned business owners to get involved!
Global Entrepreneurship Week first kicked off back in 2008, thanks to the efforts of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, aiming to inspire individuals to chase their business dreams. This year promises to be bigger than ever, with over 40,000 events taking place in around 200 countries, impacting a staggering 10 million entrepreneurs globally. Wow, right?
For our local scene, Charlotte’s GEW will feature 17 unique events over the week. Whether you prefer in-person gatherings, virtual discussions, or hybrid formats, there’s something for everyone. Imagine mingling with fellow entrepreneurs, sharing ideas, and making valuable connections!
Juan Garzon, the managing director of Innovate Charlotte, expressed the essence of this event beautifully, saying, “Small business and entrepreneurship remain the main drivers of our economy. Now more than ever, we need to support and nurture our budding entrepreneurs.” Can we get an amen to that?
Among the lineup, there are a couple of must-attend highlights. Mark your calendars for the NC IDEA Ecosystem Summit on November 19-20, a gathering where leaders will discuss the crucial need for supporting our local entrepreneurs. Following that, the Venture 135 Conference will take place on November 21-22. This exclusive event showcases the best and brightest Seed Stage, Series A, and Series B companies globally. It’s a chance to gain insights from the cream of the crop and maybe even catch a few sparks of inspiration!
But wait, there’s more! Join in on Standups and Startups on November 21, which puts a hilarious spin on the entrepreneurial journey by blending comedy and business life. And don’t forget about the Davidson Entrepreneurs Network Showcase Celebration on November 20, highlighting the growing entrepreneurial community in the Hurt Hub. This is your opportunity to see what our local ecosystem has to offer!
To cap off the excitement, make sure to be a part of the 2024 Fast 50 Awards, where Charlotte’s top 50 fastest-growing private companies will be revealed. It’s a great way to end the week on a high note and celebrate the incredible talent in our city!
With all these events packed into just one week, Charlotte’s GEW is shaping up to be a haven for anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit. Get ready to connect, learn, and grow your business ideas with fellow innovators! For the full list of events happening across the Queen City, check out the official website.
