CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) – Would you like to explore the vibrant Latin American culture through the lens of up-and-coming Latino filmmakers and actors? If so, read on.
Giovanna Torres, the executive director of Cine Casual and Co-Founder of the Charlotte Latino Film Festival, joined us in the studio today to give us the details of the celebrations.
According to Torres, the Cine Casual team had been hosting a Latin American film series in Charlotte since before COVID but after receiving a grant from the Infusion Fund, she decided to take it to the next level. For the very first time this year, they will bring 11 Latin American films from nine countries to the big screens at the Independent Picture House.
The celebrations will kick off this Thu, April 4 and will run through Sun, April 14. Tickets start at $17 per screening and are available here.
According to Torres, they will also welcome a special guest, Puerto Rican actor and producer Modesto Lacen, on Sun, April 14. This event helps shine the light on films that are rarely shown in movie theaters or on streaming platforms and support creatives of the Latin American community.
“It’s for our community. It’s our way to uplift our community,” Torres said.
For more information and the full film schedule, be sure to check out their website and follow them on Instagram and Facebook.
