A Charlotte homeowner contacted WBTV after months of failed attempts to have trees adjacent to his property removed by a neighboring apartment complex. Tyler Berger and his wife contacted Beacon Hill Apartments in the fall of 2022 about two trees on the other side of their fence after an arborist told them they were dead.
When the Bergers realized the trees were dead and posed a safety hazard, they immediately reached out to Beacon Hill Apartments for removal. Despite multiple emails and calls, the apartment complex only removed some trees, not the ones Berger was concerned about. The lack of responsiveness led to months of back and forth with no resolution.
Feeling frustrated and concerned for their family’s safety, the Bergers contacted WBTV for assistance. After WBTV reached out to the apartment complex about the issue, landscapers were seen inspecting the trees and confirming the need for removal. Within a few weeks, the dead trees were finally taken down, bringing relief to the Berger family.
In response to the situation, a spokesperson for Beacon Hill Apartments stated, “Under the direction of our landscaping partner and their arborist, we consistently monitor and address any tree-related concerns. Most recently, in December 2023 and again in February 2024, we undertook trimming and removal activities as deemed necessary. We’re always committed to being a good neighbor and doing right by our residents and community.”
The quick action taken by the apartment complex to remove the dead trees near the homeowner’s property showcases the importance of timely responsiveness to safety concerns. The resolution of this issue highlights the impact of community advocacy and the role of local news in bringing attention to critical matters.
