Children utilizing remote learning resources at home as winter weather affects Charlotte schools.
As winter weather approaches, Charlotte’s school districts are modifying schedules to ensure safety. Expect remote learning days and delays starting February 20 as snow and icy conditions loom. Parents and students should prepare for changes and stay updated on alerts. Snow predictions vary, with potential accumulation in the surrounding areas. Stay safe and warm during this winter storm!
Hey there, Charlotte! It looks like winter is making a comeback this week, and local school districts are getting ready for the snow that’s expected to blanket our area on Thursday, February 20. The National Weather Service says we can expect snow to start falling bright and early, around 5-6 a.m. in the mountains before moving into the Charlotte metro area around 7 a.m.. This weather is putting many changes in motion for our kiddos’ school schedules!
With hazardous driving conditions caused by snow, ice, and potential freezing rain, many school districts have decided to play it safe. Here’s how different districts in the area are handling the storm:
As for the snow itself, the forecast is calling for some light precipitation to begin on Wednesday night. While the Charlotte metro area might see less than an inch of snow, areas along Interstate 40 could experience 1-2 inches, and our gorgeous mountains could see 2-3 inches or even more in some places.
So, as we prepare for this winter weather, it’s essential to stay safe. Check those alerts and plan accordingly. If your kiddos’ schools are adapting their schedules, be sure to help them prepare for a cozy day of remote learning. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for safe traveling for anyone who must be out during the storm!
Stay warm and enjoy those hot chocolate moments, Charlotte! Winter is finally here!
