Charlotte Prepares for Heartwarming Holiday Mission with Operation Christmas Child

Charlotte Gears Up for Heartwarming Holiday Mission

Hey there, Charlotte! The holiday spirit is in the air, and it’s time to spread some joy to children around the world. Our wonderful friends at Samaritan’s Purse are organizing their annual “Operation Christmas Child” drive this season, and they need the support of our friendly community! So, let’s dive into the details and see how you can get involved!

Mark Your Calendars!

From November 18-25, Charlotteans and folks from across the country will come together to pack shoeboxes full of gifts for children who are in desperate need. This isn’t just any holiday drive; it’s a chance to show children around the globe that people care about them, especially during the holiday season!

What’s the Goal?

Since starting in 1993, the program has made a tremendous impact—over 220 million shoebox gifts have been donated and sent to 170 countries and territories. It’s amazing to think that one small shoebox can make a world of difference for these kids. This year, the goal is to pack enough shoeboxes to brighten the lives of another 12 million children!

Where Can You Drop Off Your Gifts?

In case you’re wondering how you can help, there are more than 4,700 donation drop-off locations scattered across our great nation, including plenty right here in the Charlotte region. It’s super easy to contribute! Gather your goodies—think toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other small surprises—and find a nearby drop-off location. For a full list of drop-off spots and their hours in Charlotte, check the Samaritan’s Purse website for quick access!

How to Pack a Shoebox

If you’re new to this initiative and need tips on what to include in the shoeboxes, don’t fret! Here’re some fun suggestions:

  • Fun Toys: Consider items like stuffed animals, balls, or puzzles.
  • School Supplies: Pencils, notebooks, and crayons are always appreciated.
  • Hygiene Items: Toothbrushes, soap, and washcloths can help promote health and cleanliness.
  • Clothing: Small clothing items, like socks or hats, can keep little ones warm.

Just remember to wrap your shoebox securely and include a personal note or a picture if you’d like! These little touches can make all the difference!

Join the Fun!

Whether it’s a solo project or a family activity, packing shoeboxes is a lovely way to bond with your loved ones while making a big impact. Plus, it’s an excellent opportunity to teach kids about the joy of giving and how they can help others less fortunate.

As the holiday season approaches, let’s make an effort to brighten the lives of children around the world. No matter how big or small, every contribution counts! So gather your supplies and start packing those shoeboxes. Charlotte, let’s show the world just how kind-hearted we are!

Spread the Word!

Lastly, don’t forget to spread the word! Share this exciting opportunity with your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors so that together we can make this year’s “Operation Christmas Child” the most successful one yet. Happy packing and happy holidays, Charlotte!
