The two-day cultural festival will feature a host of national, regional, and local entertainers, musicians and bands, with hundreds of participating vendor stalls. There will be art exhibits, local nonprofits, retailers, food courts and more, making it the perfect venue for everyone to celebrate and honour the LGBTQ community.
Those aiming for the best experience can opt for the VIP experience, featuring exclusive access to the VIP Lounge and VIP seating at the main and parade stages. Complimentary beverages and food are provided by McDonald’s as part of the VIP package.
The event will also include Flourish: A Celebration of LGBTQ Arts & Culture at the Mint Museum Uptown. Whether you’re a fan of performing arts, spoken word, or LGBTQ short films, you’re assured a memorable experience with some exceptional talent during this event.
Inclusive of all age groups, the festival will host The Youth & Family Zone for young people below 21, their family and legal guardians. Expect family-friendly entertainment and resources such as arts and crafts, community resources, a family care tent, and special speakers and entertainers. This area will be completely drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free to ensure a safe and fun atmosphere for all.
The Pride Festival also emphasizes on health and wellness, with the Health Fair offering HIV testing and Mpox (Monkeypox) vaccination among other wellness resources, is testament to this. The main purpose of this initiative is to reflect the strong belief that a healthy community is a stronger community.
Entertainment fans can look forward to the Charlotte Gaymers Stage and the Charlotte Black Pride Stage. From fantastic performances by the best drag entertainers to showcasing the arts from within the black community, the entertainment lineup promises an unforgettable experience.
In addition to the events, the Champions of Pride will be honored for their dedication and service that exemplify the spirit of Pride. Recognizing these leaders who have passionately worked to advance LGBTQ rights is a significant aspect of Charlotte Pride.
The highlight of the festival is the Charlotte Pride Parade. Scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 18th from 1-4pm, the parade pays homage to more than 50 years of LGBTQ liberation.
The Pride Festival is not just about entertainment, it’s a platform that reflects unity and solidarity. Whether you’re a part of the LGBTQ community, an ally or just a visitor, the Pride Festival offers a chance to come together, celebrate diversity and stand up for equality and rights. This event truly embodies what the city of Charlotte stands for – a community that is proud and open-minded, embracing all of its inhabitants with love and respect.
