In the heart of Charlotte, one couple’s dream is becoming a reality—proof that sometimes, when life throws you a curveball, it might just be the opening you need to embark on an incredible journey. Meet Aaron and Ebonee Tawiah, two visionary entrepreneurs who recently announced their latest project, and it’s making waves in the real estate scene!
It all started in 2020 when Aaron found himself unexpectedly laid off from his finance job. With a baby on the way and bills piling up, many would have crumbled under the weight of the pressure. But not Aaron and Ebonee. They chose to dive right into their long-held passion for real estate, saying it was time to either “sink or swim.” After much deliberation, they emptied their savings—$20,000—and invested it into their very first fix-and-flip project.
Fast forward to today; after successfully flipping numerous homes, the Tawiahs are celebrating the launch of their 20th project—the Black Star Villas in Kannapolis, North Carolina. This exciting new townhome development will feature six luxurious three-bedroom, two-and-half-bath units. Ebonee describes the homes as having “luxury features” with a “custom style” that promises to turn heads.
Construction will kick off in early 2025, with hopes of wrapping things up by the end of the same year. So, if you’re in the market for a new home, you might want to keep your eyes peeled!
The couple’s journey into real estate dates back to 2018 when Aaron felt the urge to pursue a more fulfilling path beyond the confines of the corporate world. They began with wholesaling—essentially flipping contracts instead of homes—before jumping into the fix-and-flip model once they made the leap into full-time entrepreneurship during the pandemic.
Now focused entirely on new builds, their company, A&E Investors, thrives on the mantra of combining luxury with affordability. Ebonee serves as the project manager and interior designer, while Aaron operates as a licensed general contractor and real estate agent.
One thing is clear: successful partnerships require clear communication and defined roles. The Tawiahs adhere to a simple rule in their business—“stay in your lane.” Ebonee handles all the interior decisions while Aaron takes care of construction and selling.
“We had to have that discussion early on to define roles,” insists Ebonee. This clear division has allowed them to thrive both at home and in their business venture, creating a seamless working relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.
Why choose Kannapolis, you might ask? According to Ebonee, the booming area draws many homebuyers due to its close proximity to Charlotte, combined with affordability compared to the bustling urban environment. It’s an attractive option for those seeking a new home without breaking the bank.
“We always want to provide the best for our homebuyers, so I obsess over all the details and I make all kinds of changes because I want everything to be perfect,” Ebonee notes. Their commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of their work—from unique kitchen designs to spacious bathrooms and closets.
Looking ahead, the Tawiahs are excited about their future projects. While they plan to continue building single-family homes, they’re also keen on expanding their portfolio with more multifamily properties. They aim to set a new standard for what modern living spaces can be, demonstrating that luxury does not have to come with a hefty price tag.
With an innovative approach and a clear vision, the future certainly looks bright for the Tawiahs. As they prepare to pre-sell units in the first quarter of 2025, one can’t help but admire their journey from uncertainty to unstoppable. It’s nothing short of inspiring!
So keep your eyes peeled for Black Star Villas. With Aaron and Ebonee at the helm, you can bet they’re set to make quite the splash in the Charlotte real estate market.
