Get ready, Charlotte! The highly anticipated Charlotte SHOUT! festival is just around the corner, running from April 4-20. This exciting event promises an extensive lineup of over 200 events packed with vibrant art, soul-stirring music, mouth-watering food, and delightful cultural experiences. For 17 fabulous days, local and regional talent will shine bright, offering something for everyone.
During the festival, attendees can look forward to a plethora of art-related activities and experiences featuring more than 50 participating artists. Get ready to explore a range of fascinating art installations that are sure to tickle your imagination. Among the standout attractions, you’ll find the whimsical Easter Eggs on Parade—a celebration of creativity with 13 oversized eggs designed by local artists. Another bubble of fun will be Queen’s Greens Mini Golf, offering nine holes created by local talents for a small fee of $5.
But that’s not all! Prepare yourself for the engaging Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 art installation featuring three-dimensional red frames that include swings, perfect for some quirky photo opportunities. Kids and adults alike will enjoy e/motion, an innovative see-saw that lets riders interact with one another. Plus, make sure to visit the heartwarming Temple of Change, where you can write down your hopes and dreams—what a unique way to reflect and connect!
What’s even better? Most art installations do not require tickets or reservations, so everyone can join in on the fun without stressing about costs. There’s something special planned for the kids too! The Charlotte Ballet Academy will host a free children’s dance class on April 5 at 1 p.m., allowing budding dancers to shine on the stage.
If you’re someone who believes in embracing community culture, don’t miss FOMO, The Ultimate Museum Block Party on April 9. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., three museums will open their doors for free, encouraging everyone to explore art and history at no cost. Then, on April 11, watch as artists create live artworks at the Street Art Showdown from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., a lively event that’s not to be missed!
For those interested in hands-on experiences, there’s a pottery workshop on April 12 where you can craft your own flower-shaped chip and dip tray from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.. Delicious eats will also be on display during the Charlotte StrEATS Festival with three delectable events, including the free Charlotte VegFest Jr. on April 15 at 5:30 p.m.. Your taste buds will dance with joy!
With over 10 music-related events featuring local, regional, and national talent, expect your days to be filled with incredible sounds and rhythms. The Charlotte Ideas Festival, running from April 3-8, will dive into engaging topics like citizenship, joy, and the advancements in AI. To accommodate the festivities, several road closures will be in place. Notably, Levine Avenue of the Arts will be closed until April 21, with Cedar Street closing between Trade and 5th from April 10-13.
