Hello Charlotte! It’s a thrilling time to be in our lively city. While construction has slowed down a tad in recent months, several transformational projects are gearing up to kick off in 2025, and you won’t want to miss the scoop on these exciting changes.
Recently, the buzz around town has been that many cranes have vanished from our skyline, leaving behind a blissfully peaceful view. But hold your horses! Charlotte is not done growing yet. With many new housing and office developments sprouting up, we’re still in need of spots for the ever-increasing number of newcomers who are calling our city home.
Let’s dive into one of the most anticipated projects—the Iron District! This site spans 55 acres on West Morehead, transforming what used to be an industrial zone of Charlotte Pipe. It’s in a prime location, close to Bank of America Stadium and along the future Silver Line route (a light rail!).
According to sources, Trammell Crow is currently in the due diligence phase, with infrastructure work slated to commence in 2025. Can you imagine the fun and buzz this area is set to bring to our community?
Next up is the Centre South project off South Boulevard. This location is special to many, especially for those who were sad to see low-income senior housing demolished years ago. Boston’s Fallon Company is finally revving up for this project, which will include apartments and a range of other uses.
CEO Michael Fallon mentions that they’re just waiting on final permits, hoping to start building in 2025. It’s been a long wait, but once this project gets underway, it’ll bring much-needed homes to the area!
And speaking of South Boulevard, get ready for another luxury high-rise from Southern Land Company! This 300-unit beauty plans to rise where Tyber Creek used to be, and construction is set to kick-off in spring 2025. South Boulevard is quickly becoming a corridor of towering structures, and this one is sure to add to its charm.
Switching gears to Midtown, Northwood Ravin is also hard at work! They’ve started cranking up construction on a spiffy 27-story, 283-unit luxury residential building right next to the Metropolitan, which houses the popular Trader Joe’s. The completion is aimed for late fall 2026.
Moving on to office development, with the pandemic shaking things up, the demand for office spaces plunged. However, there’s great news on the horizon! A new project known as Carson & Tryon is poised to become Charlotte’s next significant office tower in this current dry spell of construction. Residents are hopeful that office development will once again gain momentum.
VeLa Uptown is another buzzing project, set to rise where the Levine Museum of the New South once stood. This 38-story tower will host 412 apartment units complete with a dog spa, fitness center, a resort-style pool, and more! The construction is poised to start in 2025, ideally marking a pivotal moment for Uptown as center city interest is reignited.
Over off Providence Road and Sardis Lane, the ambitious Providence Square is on the brink of launching another exciting transformation. Levine Properties and Northwood Ravin have wrapped up demolition and are set to start site work in 2025. They’re receiving tax incentives of around $6.87 million for their efforts, which will also include a lovely park and infrastructure improvements. Talk about a win for the community!
Last but certainly not least, Brooklyn & Church next to Bank of America Stadium promises to breathe new life into an otherwise dull block of Uptown. If they kick off construction soon, we could be enjoying a vibrant mix of retail and residential spaces by late 2026!
As we look ahead to 2025, Charlotte is brimming with opportunities and projects that will undoubtedly shape the future of our city. Excitement is in the air, and the city we love is on a path to becoming even more dynamic. As developments begin to take shape, let’s continue to come together to watch our community thrive!
