Searching for Charlotte’s Best Burger!
Hey there, burger lovers of Charlotte! If you’re like many of us, you’ve likely come across those never-ending “top 10 burgers” lists that seem to pop up everywhere. You know the ones—they always name the same old spots, right? Well, brace yourselves because we’re on a mission to dig a little deeper in our beautiful Queen City and find the true hidden gems of the burger world!
The dynamic duo on this tasty adventure? Well, that’s us! I’m Cassidy Johncox, the fresh face on the food scene here, and I’ve teamed up with my trusty coworker, Carmichael Cruz. We both made the leap to the South from Detroit, and our burger hunt began in the Motor City. Now, we’re getting our taste buds warmed up and ready to explore Charlotte’s burger scene. Our arteries might not thank us, but hey, it’s all for the greater good of burger lovers everywhere, right?
Our Journey So Far
Wondering where our burger journey has taken us thus far? We’ve already hit up some fun spots, including Ace No. 3, Mac’s Speed Shop, and Harriet’s Hamburgers. Each place offered its unique flair, but we’re still on the quest for the ultimate burger in town!
Make Room for Platform Coffee + Kitchen!
This week, we found ourselves at Platform Coffee + Kitchen, located in Northwest Charlotte. And let’s just say, this spot is already a favorite of ours for coffee. Seriously, if you’re looking for a caffeine fix, this place has some of the yummiest brews in the city. But today, we had a burning question: how does their burger stack up?
Carmichael and I decided to go with the only burger on the menu, the Railyard Burger. This beauty features two smash patties made with locally sourced, grass-fed beef, topped with American cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. For just $13, it’s quite the hearty meal—but don’t expect fries with it.
The Tasting Session
With our little microphones taped to our shirts, we dove right into tasting. To spare you the *not-so-pleasant* munching sounds, here’s a little recap of our conversation as we devoured this burger:
Carmichael: “This is the cutest burger I’ve ever seen.”
Cassidy: “Absolutely! I feel like we could have it as a toy.”
Carmichael: “Okay, let’s dig in!”
As we took our first bites, the flavors started dancing on our tongues!
Cassidy: “Whoa! I’m getting a strong taste of butter.”
Carmichael: “I’m all about the salt!”
As we munched, we couldn’t help but notice the juiciness of the burger. Carmichael found the saltiness kind of overpowering, while I thought the pickle helped balance it out a bit.
Quality vs. Saltiness
Despite it being a little too salty for our liking, we both praised the quality of the ingredients. Every bite packed a satisfying punch, with the crunchy veggies and juicy meat working in sweet harmony. And let’s not get started on the bun—it was truly delightful!
Carmichael: “Even though it’s salty, I love the cohesion of flavors!”
Cassidy: “Totally, it feels like a high-quality burger.”
Our Final Thoughts
After enjoying every morsel, we rated the Railyard Burger on a scale from 1-10. While we both agreed it was too salty, the freshness of the ingredients and the texture of the burger made up for it. We even joked about how we’d be back for another cup of coffee at Platform—because who could resist?
So how did it fare in our quest for the perfect burger? Well, it’s fair to say we wouldn’t mind giving it another shot, maybe with some tweaks to the seasoning. But one thing’s for sure: we’re just getting started with our burger adventures in Charlotte!
