Belmont is buzzing with great news for local residents and businesses alike! JPMorgan Chase & Co., the largest bank in the nation, is on the verge of opening a new branch right in our own backyard. According to a recent filing with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the new Chase branch will be located at the corner of Wilkinson Boulevard and Park Street in Belmont. While the official opening date is still under wraps, a spokesperson has confirmed that this will mark Chase’s first branch in Belmont and the second in Gaston County, the other being at 2516 E. Franklin Blvd. in nearby Gastonia.
A Big Leap in Growth Plans
This opening is just a part of Chase’s bigger plan to significantly expand its presence in the Carolinas. Earlier this year, Chase unveiled a multibillion-dollar investment strategy aimed at increasing the number of branches across the country. By the end of 2026, it has set its sights on adding more than 15 branches in the Charlotte market alone. In fact, the bank has ramped up its growth commitment for the Carolinas since its initial goals in 2018, which included opening only 40 branches by 2022. Fast forward to now, and Chase aims to have a total of over 100 branches in the Carolinas by next year!
As of now, Chase operates around 48 branches throughout the Carolinas, with 19 locations in the Charlotte area. It’s noteworthy that Chase boasts the largest number of branches of any U.S. bank, counting more than 4,800 locations nationwide.
