Hey there, Charlotte residents! We’ve got some good news for those who rely on the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) for getting around town. Starting on Monday, October 7, CATS will be rolling out some route and schedule adjustments to better meet your commuting needs. Let’s dive into what’s changing!
First up, the Sprinter Airport (Route 5) is getting a lot more convenient. Now, instead of running less frequently, you’ll see trips every 25 minutes from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.. That’s right! If you’re catching a flight or just visiting the airport, there’s going to be an evening trip added, making it easier than ever for those late-night flyers.
Next, we have Route 15 affecting the Randolph Road area. The bus will now navigate through Burkland Drive and Bunche Drive, which means it will no longer serve Rodman Street. If you usually hop on at one of the bus stops on Rodman, don’t worry! They’re relocating these stops to Burkland Drive, keeping your commute smooth and hassle-free. Just a heads-up, the inbound stop on Wheatley Avenue is being moved to a spot before the new turn onto Bunche Drive. This change is all about ensuring smoother travel in your area.
The adjustments continue with Route 34, which serves Freedom Drive. This route will be adapted to better accommodate students going to Phillip O. Berry Academy, so parents can feel good about their kids getting to school safely and timely.
For those needing to access the VA Medical Center, Route 60 is bringing some great news! Morning service is shifting a bit to get you there even earlier. The 6:28 a.m. trip departing from Tyvola Station and the 6:54 a.m. trip leaving the airport will change their paths to head directly to the VA instead of stopping at Jackson Park. That means you can expect to arrive at the VA Medical Center around 6:39 a.m., perfect for early appointments!
Last but not least, the Route 64x Independence Boulevard Express is adding more juice to its schedule! Commuters will benefit from one additional trip in the morning and two more trips in the afternoon. This means less waiting around and more time spent doing what you love.
This is just the latest round of changes as the CATS continues to improve transit options for everyone in Charlotte. Be sure to check out the latest schedule and route maps for all the updates and find what works best for you!
