Charlotte is buzzing with activity as new residential and mixed-use projects are sprouting up across the city and its surrounding areas. The latest buzz centers around Carson & Tryon, a towering 31-story mixed-use marvel that is set to rise at 1102 S. Tryon St. This ambitious project, developed by Crescent Communities, has recently filed permits for critical groundwork and construction, paving the way for what promises to be an impressive addition to Charlotte’s landscape.
So, what can we expect from Carson & Tryon? For starters, the tower will feature 200 apartments along with essential amenities such as office spaces, retail outlets, and even a hotel! It seems that Crescent Communities is not only planning to enhance the skyline but also create a vibrant hub where residents and visitors can enjoy everything from shopping to dining, all in one convenient location.
The excitement doesn’t stop there! Residential development is booming in the communities just north of Charlotte. M/I Homes Inc., a national homebuilder, is making waves in the Lake Norman area with plans for over 300 single-family homes and townhouses in Mooresville, plus an additional 257 homes spread across two projects in Huntersville. The demand for housing appears to be at an all-time high!
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of Lake Norman, nearly 200 units aimed at active adults are on the way at The Village at Sherrills Ford. This is just a hint of the larger picture unfolding in the region, as several projects in Statesville are also in the pipeline, promising hundreds of new townhomes and more than 1,000 single-family homes. The largest of these developments could bring a whopping 1,002 homes and 376 townhomes to a sprawling 602-acre site between Nabors and Shiloh roads!
Charlotte itself is not shy about growth either. A hot new project in NoDa, The Pass development, recently celebrated a significant milestone by topping out its 335-unit complex. Not to be outdone, construction is underway in Matthews, featuring a delightful mix of housing types, including apartments, homes, townhouses, and cozy cottages.
Additionally, Charleston-based multifamily developer Greystar is adding its flair to the local scene with plans for two new projects. Keep your eyes peeled for a future 402-unit complex in north Charlotte as well as up to 306 apartments near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, pending a little rezoning magic!
Of course, with growth comes a little bit of contention. In the Elizabeth neighborhood, a controversial rezoning proposal that would allow for hundreds of multifamily units is on the calendar for the Charlotte City Council meeting this November. Last month’s zoning meeting saw a delay in the decision, but community members are gearing up for an important discussion as growth and living space become hot topics around town.
With all these exciting projects on the horizon, Charlotte is poised for a bright future filled with new living options, community spaces, and commercial opportunities. The combination of urban and residential developments paints a promising picture for residents looking to stay, explore, and thrive in this vibrant city.
Stay tuned as Charlotte continues to grow and evolve. There’s always something happening in the Queen City, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
