Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are honing in on the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania as U.S. Election race intensifies. With the election date drawing closer, these candidates are leaving no stone unturned to grab the attention of the voters in the swing states.
Both Trump and Harris understand the significance of Pennsylvania, which is why they are organizing campaign events in this crucial swing state. Trump is expected to hold a rally in the small town of Wilkes-Barre. Harris, on the other hand, will make a pit-stop around the city of Pittsburgh during a bus tour.
The New York Times/Siena College poll indicates a heated battle between the two candidates. Harris, who began her campaign shortly after President Joe Biden withdrew his re-election bid, has managed to gain ground in four states, which earlier seemed like a comfortable win for Trump against Biden. The poll shows Harris taking the lead among likely voters in Arizona and North Carolina and narrowing down Trump’s lead in Nevada and Georgia.
Harris’s emergence has given the election race a fresh spin as many Americans were frustrated by the choice between Biden and Trump. Trump lost to Biden in Pennsylvania in the previous election, but he still enjoys strong support in the rural areas and small towns. With Harris now leading the ticket for the Democratic Party in 2024, Trump is having a difficult time formulating a strategy to counter her campaign.
Trump’s campaign focuses on topics like immigration and inflation and has seen him attacking Harris’s identity. The Trump campaign, in a formal statement before the Wilkes-Barre rally, pointed out some grievances saying, “Hard-working Americans are suffering because of the Harris-Biden administration’s dangerously liberal policies.” They also asserted that the cost of living has skyrocketed, crime has increased drastically, and there is an influx of illegal immigrants into the country.
Harris, on the other hand, is promising to provide relief to the economic woes of the Americans by swearing to “bring down costs and increase economic security for all Americans.” During her campaign speech in North Carolina, she introduced a series of proposals to spark the economy and fight against food ‘price gouging’.
“I will be laser-focused on creating opportunities for the middle class,” Harris told a cheering crowd in North Carolina. “Together, we will build what I call an opportunity economy.”
