Huntington National Bank to Open 55 New Branches in the Carolinas by 2029, Creating Over 350 Jobs

Exciting Expansion in the Carolinas: Huntington National Bank Plans 55 New Branches

Charlotte, NC – Big news is coming to the Carolinas as Huntington National Bank, a well-respected bank hailing from Columbus, Ohio, announces plans to open 55 new branches across North and South Carolina by 2029. This expansion is set to boost the local economy not only by enhancing banking services but also by creating over 350 jobs in the area!

The First Locations and More Branches to Come

The first set of branches will be located in key cities including Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, and southward to Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville. The bank has big plans and is already outlining their strategy, with the first branches expected to open their doors very soon. They’re also expanding in cities like Denver, Minneapolis, and Chicago.

Heath Campbell, who serves as Huntington’s executive managing director for the Carolinas, expressed excitement over the bank’s expansion, saying, “Now that we’ve had the opportunity to build the early stages of a brand awareness, it makes sense given the receptivity and market dynamics happening in the Carolinas.” Sounds like a solid plan!

Serving the Community

This expansion is more than just a business move; it’s about better serving the community. Huntington plans on providing a range of banking services, including personal, wealth, business, and commercial banking. With this growth, they aim to assist over 30,000 existing clients in the region, which is no small feat!

A Steady Growth Journey

Huntington isn’t new to the Carolinas. They established a corporate and specialty banking presence here nearly a decade ago, and already have a foot in the door with their office in Charlotte at 101 S. Tryon St.. This office serves as their flagship for commercial banking and has room for even more growth in the future with plans to establish additional offices across important strategic locations like the Triad and Triangle areas.

Building a Stronger Team

As part of their ambitious expansion, Huntington also plans on bolstering its workforce. Recently, they formed a local, 10-person fund finance team composed of professionals displaced from Signature Bank, which closed its doors earlier this year. They’ve also hired about 14 new employees into their commercial banking unit, with six stationed right here in Charlotte.

New Wealth Management Office

In an exciting move, Huntington plans to open a full-service wealth management office in SouthPark, Charlotte, by early next year at the address 6700 Fairview Road. With the former space occupied by Fifth Third Bancorp, it’s exciting to see it being put to good use within the community!

So, What’s Next?

Huntington’s commitment to the Carolinas isn’t just about expanding their footprint; it’s a move towards becoming a “people-first, digitally powered bank.” With a whopping $196 billion in total assets and about 970 branches across 11 states, it’s clear that they are gearing up to make a significant impact in our local markets.

As we look ahead, the Carolinas are in for a transformational experience with Huntington National Bank leading the charge. It’s an exciting time for both current and future clients, providing opportunities that will benefit the entire community.
