Motown legends The Commodores and Pointer Sisters set to perform in Charlotte
Two legendary group acts are set to come to Charlotte this fall. The Commodores and The Pointer Sisters have announced a new co-headlined tour, “An Evening of Icons,” alongside special guest El DeBarge at PNC Music Pavillion on Sep. 21, Live Nation announced through a press release Tuesday.
Classic Hits and Special Guest Performances
“Motown was the place where our dreams took flight. Sharing the stage with another legend like The Pointer Sisters as Motown celebrates their 65th anniversary is truly special. We’re proud to continue to celebrate the music that brought us all together,” Live Nation quoted The Commodores as saying.
The Commodores are well known for their hits like “Brick House” and “Easy.” The Pointer Sisters, on the other hand, are best known for the hit song “I’m So Excited.” Ticket sales for the tour will begin with presales on April 17, followed by the general sale on April 19.
Special Guest Performances
The tour will feature a mix of classic hits from The Commodores and The Pointer Sisters, along with special guest performances from El DeBarge — known for solo hits like “Who’s Holding Donna Now” and various hits from his family group DeBarge, including “I Like It” and “All This Love.”
10-City Tour
The limited 10-city tour will start in July and run through November, with various stops across the United States, including Charlotte and –on Sep. 20 — Raleigh, N.C.
