The Inaugural Big Mecklenburg County Fair will open on the grounds of The Park Expo & Conference Center (800 Briar Creek Road; next to Bojangles Coliseum) Friday, May 24 through Sunday, June 2. Amusement rides, prize-filled games, live entertainment, and traditional carnival foods are planned for the 10-day event.
The carnival midway at the Fair will be provided by the legendary James E. Strates Shows, Inc, which celebrates its 101st year in business in 2024. More than 40 state-of-the-art carnival rides will be featured, including a Kiddieland designed especially for children, and midway favorites like the “Monkey Maze,” “Giant Wheel,” “Sky Flyer,” and the enduring family favorite, the classic American carousel.
The Big Mecklenburg County Fair will feature fresh, tantalizing foods with incredible, mouth-watering aromas in the air. From out-of-this-world funnel cakes dusted with powdered sugar to French fries drizzled with vinegar, fairgoers will be sure to enjoy favorite foods and beverages.
Included with paid gate admission to the Fair are several not-to-be-missed performances. Some of the highlights include the Majestik Spectacular, a show featuring athletes, thrilling circus acts, and stunt performers from around the world; Foam Zone, a bubbly paradise of safe foam for kids and adults to enjoy; and Wonderland Circus, a showcase of acrobats, jugglers, and clowns under the big top.
Fairgoers can take advantage of money-saving offers and specials throughout the event. Some of the promotions include Military/First Responder Day, Two For Tuesday, Food Bank Day, and Dollar Day. Additionally, a Mega Pass is available for purchase, offering a pay-one-price ride wristband for unlimited rides throughout the day.
The Fair opens at 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. On Memorial Day, Monday May 27, the Fair will open at 1 p.m. Closing times vary based on weather conditions and midway capacity. FREE parking is available with gate admission, with tickets as low as $7.50 when purchased online.
