Mecklenburg County Liquor Stores Introduce ‘ABC To Go’ App for Online Orders

The Mecklenburg County ABC Board has announced the launch of the “ABC To Go” app, allowing customers to order spirits ahead of in-store pickups at all 30 of its liquor stores. The new app is aimed at creating a smoother buying experience for customers, making it easier to browse, select, and purchase spirits online.
A Convenient Solution
CEO Keva Walton explained that the concept for the “ABC To Go” app was born out of the challenges faced during the pandemic, when long lines and product shortages were common in ABC stores. The goal is to provide a more efficient and customer-friendly shopping experience while adapting to the changing retail landscape.
How It Works
Customers can download the app, verify their legal age, browse through categories, and select their desired products. The app displays product photos, allowing users to virtually navigate through the store’s inventory. Once the order is placed and paid for online, customers will receive a notification when their purchase is ready for pickup.
Enhanced Inventory Management
The app is designed in a way that automatically updates inventory levels in real time. This ensures that customers have accurate information on product availability at their chosen store location. Additionally, orders not picked up by 7 p.m. are returned back to inventory for other customers to purchase.

Walton emphasized the importance of responsible alcohol consumption and the role of the ABC Board in investing back into the community. The revenue generated from liquor sales is used to support alcohol education, public safety, and community programs, benefiting the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.
