It was around 7:30 p.m. when officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department rushed to the scene of the crash. What they found upon arrival was a devastating sight. A 2024 Dodge Ram 2500 Big Horn pickup truck sat on Lawyers Road with its front end seriously damaged, and just partially tucked under the truck lay a 2007 Honda Shadow VT750 motorcycle.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Thomas was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed while heading northwest on Lawyers Road. Witnesses say he collided with the pickup truck driven by Angel Sanchez Medina, 28, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Harri Ann Drive. Thankfully, Medina sustained no injuries and remained on the scene, cooperating fully with the police as they gathered information.
