Over at Myers Park, Lake Norman didn’t play, as they had to forfeit their match-up. North Mecklenburg, dominating the court, crushed Weddington with a whopping 94-57 win, while Watauga edged out West Forsyth in a tight contest, with a final score of 62-59.
Over in the east region, Garner snagged a win against Apex Friendship, wrapping things up with a 61-49 scoreline. Green Level also enjoyed victory, defeating Clayton 62-47. New Hanover brought their A-game, *dominating Richmond Senior* with an impressive score of 85-39, and Sanderson ran past Lumberton to finish at 59-47.
As we approach the quarterfinals this Friday, the matchups are set, and they look like they’ll be filled with excitement. Chambers (22-8) faces Myers Park (17-12), while Watauga (21-7) goes up against North Mecklenburg (27-3). Green Level (26-4) will take on New Hanover (28-2), and the thrilling clash of Sanderson (26-3) versus Garner (26-3) is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats!
The third round results in Class 3A were just as riveting. Ashbrook showcased their skills with a convincing win over Central Davidson, finishing with a score of 65-44. Ben Smith had a nail-biter against Dudley, edging past with a close 50-48 victory. Crest held off Oak Grove in a tense battle, winning 62-59, while Hunter Huss blew past High Point Central with an impressive 74-47 no-holds-barred win.
In the eastern region, J.H. Rose squeaked by Seventy-First with a final score of 52-47. Southern Durham showcased their strength with a solid 71-65 win against First Flight, and Swansboro easily dispatched Southern Lee with a dominating 67-40 performance. White Oak was on fire, taking down Person 90-80.
The quarterfinal matchups for Class 3A on Friday include Ben Smith (26-3) at Crest (22-3), Hunter Huss (19-8) at Ashbrook (26-3), J.H. Rose (23-4) at Southern Durham (28-2), and White Oak (18-8) facing off against Swansboro (24-1). Buckle up, folks!
Turning to Class 2A, there were some notable victories as well. Bandys had a strong win against Shelby, ending at 67-46, while Lincoln Charter outplayed North Surry for a convincing 76-45 win. Reidsville took down Monroe 50-36, and Salisbury found their rhythm, edging past Lincolnton 67-59.
As for the quarterfinal matchups, they are set: Salisbury (26-3) will face off against Reidsville (28-0), Bandys (21-7) takes on Lincoln Charter (20-9), Northwood (28-2) against Southwest Onslow (24-3), and West Bladen (26-1) will compete with Farmville Central (23-4).
In Class 1A, big wins were noted too. Bishop McGuinness emerged victorious against North Rowan 90-76, with Corvian Community overcoming Carolina International 66-54. Queen’s Grant Charter brought home a win against East Wilkes 90-52, while South Stokes edged out Eastern Randolph with a score of 75-66.
The quarterfinal matches promise to deliver excitement, pitting Corvian Community (22-7) against Bishop McGuinness (27-2), Queen’s Grant Charter (26-7) against South Stokes (27-2), Northampton County (21-6) at Southern Wake Academy (25-4), and Voyager Academy (22-5) against Washington County (21-3).
