Charlotte, a city known for its vibrant communities and rich culture, recently welcomed Harlow Dental to its growing list of healthcare providers. This local Black-owned dental practice has just celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of its third location in the city. The new office, which started seeing patients on August 5, is located at 3211 Eastway Drive, Suite 10, and aims to be a full-service general dentistry practice dedicated to serving the community.
At the helm of this expansion is Dr. Justin Harlow, a 36-year-old dentist who expressed his excitement about the new location during our conversation. “We are thrilled about this expansion,” Harlow said. “Out of the commercial dental practices in the area, we’re one of the few with three locations. Our aim remains to be a full-service dental provider, and we want to be accessible to the community.” This commitment to community service is at the core of everything Harlow Dental stands for.
The journey to this expansion hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Like many businesses, Harlow Dental faced numerous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Harlow noted that the past two years have been crucial for determining when it would be the right time to grow the practice. “We learned to pause and focus on the stability of our existing practices. Now we see an opportunity to expand, especially with the influx of new residents in Charlotte,” he shared, demonstrating a keen understanding of the changing landscape in the city.
What makes Harlow Dental stand out is not only its services but also its approach to making dental visits a less daunting experience. Dr. Harlow emphasized the importance of creating a positive environment for patients—something that can often be overlooked in the dental field. “Dentistry doesn’t have to be scary,” Harlow mentioned. “We strive to create a comfortable environment,” he emphasized. To ease patient anxiety, the practice uses modern technology and offers distractions, such as TVs and music tailored to individual preferences.
Dr. Harlow is proud to have a diverse team that reflects the community it serves. “East Charlotte is one of the most diverse parts of town, and we want to ensure that we are inclusive and accessible to all of our patients.” Each Harlow Dental location is staffed with over 20 full and part-time employees, and there is a Spanish-speaking staff member at each location to cater to Spanish-speaking clients.
Currently, the practice operates its flagship office in Steele Creek, which opened in 2017, and another Uptown location that opened in 2019. Harlow Dental’s new location in Eastway enables the practice to reach even more patients and ensure that quality care is available to every member of the community.
While the future looks bright for Harlow Dental with this new endeavor, Dr. Harlow has no plans to extend beyond the borders of Charlotte. He hopes that Harlow Dental becomes synonymous with dental care in Mecklenburg. “We are here as a Black-owned provider in Charlotte who values family and community, and we’re proud of that,” he stated confidently.
If you’re in the Charlotte area and looking for a dental practice that is rooted in community and committed to providing top-notch care, consider visiting Harlow Dental. They are not only expanding their services but are also actively investing in the health and well-being of their community.
