North Carolina High School Basketball Rankings: New Teams Shake Up the Court

North Carolina High School Basketball Rankings See New Faces

Charlotte, NC – The latest high school basketball rankings introduced by local experts reveal excitement as six new teams make their debut this week. The rankings cover both boys’ and girls’ teams across four public school divisions along with an overall private school category, reflecting the competitive landscape within the state.

A Strong Start for Girls’ Teams

In the girls’ private school rankings, the Greensboro Day Bengals have entered the top ten, now standing at 5-1 after a recent winning streak of three straight games. Their momentum picked up after an earlier loss where they were defeated 77-62 by the formidable Grace Christian, known for their dominance in North Carolina high school basketball.

A Rising Force in Boys’ Basketball

On the boys’ side, the rankings shake up includes the undefeated Newton-Conover Red Devils, who have impressively secured their place in the 2A category with a record of 2-0. Their victories come with an average win margin of nearly 25 points per game, indicating a robust performance that is making them a team to watch this season.

New Entries in Boys’ Rankings

The boys’ rankings unveil four new teams and the emergence of a new No. 1 team. Among the newcomers is the unbeaten Asheville Christian with a 3-0 record, along with the also unbeaten Asheville School standing strong at 5-0. Another notable entry is South Caldwell, who made their mark in the 3A poll with a perfect 3-0 start.

Mooresville’s Significant Upset

The Mooresville Blue Devils, who are currently 3-0, have joined the 4A rankings following a significant upset over Weddington during the Phenom Hoops’ George Lynch Invitational held last Saturday. This victory is particularly noteworthy as Weddington was ranked No. 6 in preseason regional rankings, making the upset a highlight of the early season.

1A Rankings Shakeup

In the 1A rankings, Southern Wake has climbed from the second position to seize the top spot after previous No. 1 Corvian Community School suffered a defeat in their season opener against 4A Harding. The final score of that match was 66-55, significantly opening the door for Southern Wake to take over the lead.

Conclusion

This week’s rankings indicate a dynamic shift in North Carolina high school basketball, with new teams asserting dominance across various classifications. As teams settle into the season, fans can expect further updates as the competition heats up. Stay tuned for ongoing developments as schools continue to showcase their talents on the court.
