Coming off the announcement of his second studio album, God Said No, set to be released on June 28, soulful alternative R&B singer-songwriter and musician Omar Apollo has announced an international tour that will make stops in Charlotte and Raleigh.
After the success of his debut studio album, Ivory, in 2022, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, Apollo has released three singles (“Spite”, “Dispose of Me,” and “Less Of You”) from his forthcoming album. The upcoming 14-track sophomore release was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and inspired by poets Mary Oliver, Victoria Chang, and Ocean Vuong.
Apollo has made a name for himself in the music industry, having been the opening act for SZA’s SOS Tour in 2023, and performing at major music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Primavera Sound, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits.
Supported by Los Angeles singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Malcom Todd in Charlotte and Raleigh, Kevin Abstract and Ravyn Lenae will also join Apollo on select dates. The tour will kick off in July in Australia before making its way to the United States.
The tour will hit Raleigh on September 11 at Red Hat Amphitheater and Charlotte on September 13 at Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre. Presale for tickets will begin on Wednesday, June 12 at 10 a.m. (with code: DISHAHOT2024), and tickets will be available to the public on Friday, June 14 at 10 a.m.
Music enthusiasts in both Charlotte and Raleigh can look forward to an enchanting evening filled with Apollo’s unique blend of alternative R&B and soulful melodies.
