CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An alarming incident occurred on Tuesday that has shocked the local community. A man has been arrested following an attempted sexual assault on a woman in the bathroom of an auto service center.
On July 29, police say that 30-year-old Eleno Cervantes followed a woman into the bathroom of the service center located in the 3300 block of Monroe Road. While inside, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded promptly to the incident. Thanks to the swift actions of their Sexual Assault Unit, detectives were able to quickly identify and apprehend the suspect.
Eleno Cervantes is facing serious charges including second-degree attempted rape, sexual battery, first-degree kidnapping, and assault on a female. Following his arrest, he is being held without bond.
