Catawba Nation To Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony To Mark The Start Of Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort Construction

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Catawba Nation is set to commemorate the initiation of construction for the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort with a ceremonial groundbreaking event on Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m. The casino resort, a project valued at over $700 million, will be located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, approximately a 35-minute drive from downtown Charlotte.

Construction Phases

The construction of the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort will be carried out in two main phases. The first phase will consist of the construction of the Introductory Casino, which will feature 1,350 slots/ETGs, 12 table games, and a restaurant with 40 seats. Additionally, the restaurant will include a sportsbook area with 30 self-service kiosks. The Introductory Casino will also house supporting back-of-house space and part of the first two floors of the parking garage. Completion of this phase is expected in early 2026.

The second phase will see the development of the Full Casino Resort, boasting 4,300 slots, 100 table games, five restaurants, a players lounge, six bars, and a 400-room hotel. The hotel will be a separate structure connected to the casino complex to enhance the overall patron experience. The casino complex will span three levels of parking (floors 2-4), offer an entire floor dedicated to back-of-house operations and offices, and house the main casino floor and restaurants on the top level.

Temporary Casino

During the construction of the first phase, the Catawba Nation will continue to operate its temporary casino, which first opened its doors in 2021. The temporary casino currently features 1,000 slot machines, electronic table games (ETGs), a retail sportsbook, and a restaurant. Plans are in place to expand the temporary casino by adding 12 live table games, 56 additional slot machines, and additional surface parking in early summer.

Employment Opportunities

Once fully operational, the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort is expected to employ approximately 2,200 team members. The resort will create numerous job opportunities in various sectors, including hospitality, gaming, food and beverage, and administration.

Ceremonial Groundbreaking

The groundbreaking ceremony on June 7 will signify the official commencement of construction for the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort. Tribal leaders, project stakeholders, and community members will gather to commemorate this significant milestone in the development of the resort.
