Voting Opens for Best High School Volleyball Player in Charlotte

The city of Charlotte is witnessing an exciting moment in high school sports as fans get the opportunity to vote for the best high school volleyball player in the area this season. The Observer has compiled a list of talented finalists based on nominations from various schools, inviting readers to cast their votes until Sunday at midnight. The player with the most votes will be featured in a future article.

Who Are the Finalists?

This year’s race includes standout players from various schools, showcasing remarkable talent and skill across the board. The finalists are:

  • Karsyn Baylog, Marvin Ridge, Senior: As an outside hitter, Baylog propelled her team to a 34-4 record and a spot in the N.C. 4A state championship game. She achieved 245 kills, 297 digs, 34 aces, and 29 blocks this season. Baylog earned all-state and all-region honors, also being named the Southern Carolinas conference player of the year.
  • Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day, Senior: Bing ranked 12th nationally with 718 kills, averaging 8.4 kills per set. She led her team to a 19-10 record and secured a N.C. Independent Schools 2A state title. Bing, committed to South Carolina, is an all-conference and all-state player.
  • Jordin Glass, Davidson Day, Senior: A middle hitter with a hitting percentage of .355, Glass had 356 kills, 73 digs, and 69 aces. Under her leadership, the Patriots achieved a 24-4 record and won the NCISAA state title. She is a three-time all-state player and a two-time conference MVP.
  • Sofia Janowicz, Ardrey Kell, Senior: Primarily an outside hitter and setter, Janowicz played a crucial role in her team’s 17-14 record. She earned an impressive 250 kills and 34 blocks this season, also being named conference player of the year and tournament MVP.
  • Danielle Lewis, Lake Norman Charter, Sophomore: As a libero, Lewis played 81 sets, racked up 465 digs, and led her team to a 22-3 record. Her outstanding performance earned her the title of South Piedmont conference player of the year.
  • Arianna Lopez, Cannon School, Senior: The Cougars’ setter had 522 assists and 120 kills this season, helping her team achieve a 15-8 record. Lopez recorded her 2,000th assist this season and was recognized as an all-conference and all-state pick.
  • Jumana Martin, Nation Ford (SC), Senior: Martin played 117 sets and averaged 500 digs. She led her team to a stellar 40-3 record and reached the state semifinals. Martin is an all-region and all-state player, with a commitment to the College of Charleston.
  • Sanaa Mohammed, Charlotte Country Day, Sophomore: Mohammed ended the season with 278 kills and supported her team to a 20-3 record. She earned first-team all-conference and all-state recognition.
  • Caroline Noonan, Charlotte Christian, Senior: Noonan recorded 257 kills and was named the 2024 CISAA conference player of the year.
