The Charlotte area experienced record warmth this Easter Sunday, with a high of 84°F, making it the warmest Easter since 2011. And the warm weather is set to continue as we head into April.
The combination of stiff breezes from the southwest and plenty of sunshine will bring temperatures back into the mid-80s in the Piedmont and Foothills. In fact, the record high for April 1st in the Queen City is 86°F, and highs on Monday may come dangerously close to breaking that record.
As we head into Tuesday night, it’s important to keep a close eye on the weather system that is expected to bring a few strong storms to the region. While the severe threat is not high, there is a possibility of some gusty storms, especially in the northern and western areas of Charlotte.
Despite the overcast skies on Tuesday, temperatures will still reach the mid-80s across the Piedmont and Foothills. Some showers or isolated storms may linger into the early hours of Wednesday morning, but most of the area will dry out by the afternoon. However, areas to the east of the Metro may see a storm later in the day.
Following the midweek system, much colder air will move into the region. The High Country may experience significant snowfall on Wednesday and Thursday, while lower elevations can expect frosty mornings to end the workweek.
